The target of 180 which looked possible at one stage came drastically down as the Warriors failed to tame their attacking stroke- play. The Chennai Superstars started off in a similar fashion and displayed some high- class attacking batting. They set a new record by scoring the fastest team fifty in 17 balls flat. Tapash Baisya bore the brunt conceding three fours in the second over while Manjural Islam was smashed for four boundaries. A sensible batting performance by the middle- order rounded off a comprehensive six wicket win for Chennai Superstars.
On his teams performance in the opening game
We cant say that we played very good cricket today. We started off very well but lost too many wickets in the middle overs. We didnt achieve the target that we wanted to, but we played after a long time. Probably, this was our first game in three months and as time goes by we will definitely be better.
The flamboyant start but losing the way in middle
It has to a mixture of both. T20 does not mean you hit all the balls. It has to so be somewhere in between. You hit initially and at the same time also look for singles. You cannot hit every ball and that�s the mistake we committed today. Hopefully we wont to do it again and come back with some good results.n Marvan Atapattu.
On being overaggressive a problem associated with Bangladesh players
Over aggression was a major problem for this game. But we will talk and discuss. We will try to make sure that it does not happen again in the next game.
On fast bowlers conceding too many runs
The bowlers need time to settle. They will come back harder and they all are playing after a long time
On areas that require attention
We would look to score more runs in the middle overs and not to lose too many wickets. Also, we will try to restrict the run flow with the new ball. It becomes very difficult if we give away so many runs in the first 5-6 overs. (Warriors conceded 74 runs in first five overs) But the spinners did a very good job.
